Hola, Im leaving here in Canada without my precious guitar and am wondering If I can find easly a quality acoustic steel string guitar in Mexico, say for less than $200 Canadian? Ill be looking in the areas between Cancun and Verecruz. Any idea?

Sun, January 6, 2008 - 5:51 PMi would suggest buying one in canada or the u.s. used and bringing it down there without any idea of being attached to it. i would also buy extra strings to bring. the guitars u will find in mexico are more of the classical/ mariachi style with nylon strings. the steel string folk guitars are harder to find.

p.s. learning mexican standards like "la bamba" and "guadalajara" and playing them out will keep many locals amused and make u plenty of new friends. -
